What is the first name that comes to mind when I say New York Yankees? If you are a real baseball fan, you are probably thinking of Lou Gehrig, “The Iron Horse” or perhaps Babe Ruthhis, I am sure Whitey Ford is somewhere in your thoughts as one of the most loyal New York Yankees. And if you are far from baseball but close to entertainment then you are most certainly thinking of Alex Rodriguez (A-rod). The point is there are always specific names that stand out and those are usually players of important positions like outfielders, pitchers, and catchers. In baseball just like in other sports, the players of impact positions are often forgotten with the spotlight being on the key players. One such player is the left fielders.   Judging from the patterns of the past year, the NBA franchise has made offense as the focus of the overall game strategy making the left fielders even less “visible.” But the importance of defense and the left fielders should not be undermined....

Let’s consider a familiar scenario to many of our soldiers that have made their way home after a few deployments. Our soldier left soon after graduating high school, with that familiar call to service that many of our beloved soldiers have. Over the years, this soldier has grown during this time and seen and experienced a lot of things that many of us will never encounter in our lifetime. You’re almost to the finish line and reviewing the contract details, and something so blatantly scary is sitting right there that nobody warned you about beforehand. Before you lay down your pen and walk out in a huff, there is most likely a story behind many of the contract stipulations in franchise agreements. One of the most common surprises I encounter with my franchisees is when they start to realize within those words, terms, and conditions is a promise by them to abide by strict and precise controls set in place by the franchise. If they ever stray from those stipulations, they may lose any protection under the franchise umbrella, and may even lose their franchise altogether.   This detail may come as a point of fight or flight for the aspiring franchise, but it’s all for a good reason.
